CBI chargesheet not to name Modi, to clear Ishrat: Report

Ahmedabad, July 3: The chargesheet to be filed by the CBI on Wednesday in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case doesn't name either Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi nor his aide Ami Shah in its list of suspects, media reports said.

The central investigative agency also said that Ishrat, a 19-year-old college student when she was killed along with three other persons, was not a terrorist. It, however, said that the three others killed along with her had links with terror outfits and were allegedly using Ishrat in their mission.

As per one report, the CBI chargesheet claimed that the three men were in touch with Muzammil, a Lashkar-e-Taiba man. It also said that that the terrorists were planning an attack on Ahmedabad and not Modi.

The chargesheet reportedly said that the injuries of the victims confirmed that they were targetted in a fake encounter. Ishrat and the three men were shot in their abdomen, which shows that they were not shot on the run.
