Ghaziabad, July 1: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday hinted at a possible foul play after one of his party colleagues Santosh Koli was severely injured in a road accident here on Sunday.
Koli, a core committee member of the AAP, was on her way to the party office when a speeding vehicle hit the motorcycle in which she was riding pillion. Koli suffered serious brain injuries, the AAP said.
"Santosh Koli, our candidate from Seemapuri constituency, hit by a car. She is in v critical condition. Pl pray for her. Is it an accident? Or deliberate?", Kejriwal, who had carried out a series of expose against prominent people of the country in the recent past, said.
Kejriwal said it was a suspicious case for the road was empty as it was a Sunday and secondly, the driver of the vehicle had allegedly stopped for a moment to look back. The AAP leader suspected that the driver perhaps paused to see whether it was a serious enough injury.
He visited Koli along with Manish Sisodia, another AAP leader, at the hospital. Koli is supposed to contest the Delhi assembly elections scheduled later this year.
The Ghaziabad police have registered a case and said they were probing the incident. Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police Shiv Shankar Yadav said they were trying to identify the vehicle and also appealed to the people to share information about it, in case they had.
Another AAP member Rajan Prakash said Koli had received a threat a few days ago. She was allegedly asked not to enter politics.
The next 24 hours are criticial for Koli according to the doctors, Kejriwal said.
