Dehradun, June 28: The Uttarakhand government on Friday told the Supreme Court that it hoped to complete rescue operations in the flood-ravaged state by June 29.

The apex court had asked the Centre to step up the relief operations in Uttarakhand and also sought report from both the Centre and the state government and set June 25 as the deadline to update it with the status of the relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

The state government submitted its Action Taken Report in the Supreme Court, in which it said that clearing the debris from various affected areas was the government's priority.

Chamoli District Magistrate S A Murugesan said that over 2,000 people were still stranded in Badrinath. Of them, 2,000 are pilgrims while around 1,200 are local people. He said the administration was looking to complete the rescue operations fast.
