Fans pray as Mandela's health declines

Nelson Mandela
Johannesberg, June 25: Nelson Mandela, the flag ship bearer and an icon in anti-apartheid campaigns in South Africa is critical. For those who do not know the contributions of this stalwart in re-einstating peace in the war-ridden African world, Google his name and you would find a host of links devoted to his work, biography, and writings.

As his family and friends gather around the hospital bed, millions who had been greatly influenced by his ideas prayed in silence for his well being.

"I just hope that we are able to celebrate his 95th birthday gain. It is on July 18th," said a follower. Per reports, despite intensive treatment in South Africa's Pretoria's Mediclinic Haeart Hospital, his situation is deteriorating. This is the fourth time that he is being hospitalized since December due to pulmonary dysfunction.

However, his daughter thinks otherwise. "He has given so much to the world. I believe he is at peace," she said. She further asked the media to let this be a private moment with family and friends. She suggests his fan following saying that they should accept his frailty and accept his condition as it is.

"He is 94 now and he is old. We should accept his old age gracefully and remember his contribution to the society," further added.

"Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do but to pray that the doctors can help him out," said Phathani Mbath outside the hospital, where one could see flowers, cards and messages of support and prayers for the well-being of the father of democracy.
