Mumbai, June 22: Security forces on Saturday, June 22 rescued 1,000 stranded pilgrims including 17 foreign tourists from flood-hit areas of Uttarakhand. The rescue team found pilgrims stuck between Kedarnath and Gaurikund even as bad weather hampered chopper operations at some places.

celebrities also have been affected by the devastating flood in the
region. Bollywood superstar Amitabh
Bachchan showed his concern for the stranded pilgrims who are
yet to be rescued by the team.
Turning up to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Big B tweeted,
"News from Kedarnath and the entire region, so distressing. Faith
took them there, and faith now brings them back safe I hope ..
Big B's tweet surfaced at a time when an eight-member team of experts has been sent to Kedarnath shrine to take a count of bodies lying in the temple area.
Disaster Management authorities on Saturday informed that chopper operations were hampered with overcast conditions. The weather condition delayed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's programme
The Gujarat CM was scheduled to undertake an aerial survey of the affected areas in Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts.
The Modi government has also pledged a financial assistance of Rs 2 crore to the Uttarakhand government.
