U'khand: Cong & BJP compete for generosity towards affected

Bhopal, June 21: Ajay Singh, Leader of the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh assembly, on Friday said that the Congress MLAs have decided to donate a month's salary for the cause of those seriously affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in Uttarakhand. He said the party MLAs made the move after receiving directives from chief Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress made the announcement after the ruling BJP took a similar initiative on Thursday.

Meanwhile, 44 judges in Sagar district of MP also decided to donate a month's salary to provide relief to those distressed in the Himalayan state. They took the decision after district and sessions judge HP Singh took a similar call.

The judges also appealed to their counterparts in the rest of the state to make similar contribution.

Top brass of Air India also donated ta month's salary for the people of Uttarakhand.

Over 550 people were killed while several thousands were still left stranded in various parts of the disaster-affected state, including the temple town of Kedarnath.
