However, veteran BJP leaders including Advani opposed Rajnath Singh's proposal. Despite his difference with the Gujarat CM, Advani reportedly had offered a compromise formula, suggesting that Modi be appointed as the convenor and not the chairman of the poll panel.
Top BJP leaders -- Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh and many others including Modi reached the venue at Panaji in Goa. The final decision is expected to be announced around 12:00 pm on Sunday.
