Imphal, June 4: Two militants identified as Keisham Thaja and Thangjam Roma of Kangleipak Communist Party-Lalumba (KCP-L) were arrested by police commandos in Manipur's interior Thoubal district, police said today.

Commandos, attached to Thoubal and Imphal East district police stations, arrested Keisham Thaja during frisking at Thoubal area last evening.

On questioning, Thaja confessed that she was going to Roma's place in Heirok, following instructions of 'captain' Sarat Singh, to find out whether it was safe to hand over six grenades, two revolvers, and other explosive materials. Had she not been arrested, Thaja was to report to Sarat Singh who was to send the explosives and arms to Roma's place.

According to the police, Roma rang up Thaja, while she was being questioned, to enquire about her safety.  Following this, the commandos immediately rushed to Roma's place and arrested her. The Commandos reportedly tried to contact Sarat Singh, but there was no response from him. The police is still looking for him. Official sources said that so far more than 150 militants have been arrested from various places this year.
