New Delhi, June 4: Bail pleas of cricketer S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and some other bookies have been rejected by a Delhi court on Tuesday, June 4. The court extended their judicial custody till June 18.

Another cricketer of Rajastha Royals (RR) -- Ankeet Chavan also would join his teammates in Tihar jail. Chavan, who got married on June 2, was granted conditional bail till June 6.

Delhi Police, who arrested the three cricketers from Mumbai on May 15, slapped provisions under the stringent anti-organised crime act MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) against them.

Other bookies, who also were arrested over IPL spot fixing scandal, also faced the same charges. According to MCOCA, it would be difficult for the cricketers to get bail and the punishment would be more stringent if they are convicted.

Meanwhile, Sreesanth's lawyer was quoted as saying, "I don't understand how a cricketer can be charged under MCOCA. The Delhi police has imposed MCOCA solely to deny Sreesanth his right to bail."
