The jail authorities do not want the actor to mingle with other prisoners in jail citing security reasons. Hence, Dutt would undertake this task inside his cell in Maximum Security Enclosure 3, said a report.
Speaking about security arrangement for Dutt inside the prison, a jail official was quoted as saying, "The last time when Dutt was in Yerawada jail, he was given the task of making cane chairs. However, this time, he will not be given the same task. We are thinking of giving him another indoor job so that he does not mingle with the other inmates."
Ahead of surrendering himself before a TADA court in Pune, Dutt had submitted a plea seeking permission to surrender directly at Yerwada Jail. He had claimed that he had threat to his life. However, later he had withdrawn his plea and followed court's order.
Dutt initially was lodged at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai and later he was shifted to Pune at the wee hours in supreme secrecy. Breaking the rules, Dutt was lodged in the Mumbai jail nearly for seven days.
Dutt was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case for possessing illegal weapons. Of the total term of five years, Dutt has already served 18 months in jail two decades ago and the Supreme Court, in its order of March 21, asked him to serve another 42 months.
