Spot fixing: Sreesanth and 10 others in 5-day police custody

New Delhi, May 21: A Delhi court on Tuesday remanded accused cricketer S Sreesanth and 10 others to five days in police custody in the latest spot-fixing scandal in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sreesanth, along with his two colleagues in the Rajasthan Royals, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, were suspended after being arrested for their alleged role in the spot-fixing scandal, were produced in a court here on Tuesday. The three cricketers were caught in Mumbai on May 15.

The three cricketers were arrested after the police claimed that they received upto Rs 60 lakh from bookies for bowling below par.

The first connection of Bollywood with the spot-fixing scandal was exposed on Tuesday after actor Vindoo Dara Singh, son of late wrestler-actor Dara Singh, was arrested in connection with the scandal.

The BCCI condemned the incident but distanced itself from it, saying it was handicapped to stop the practice completely.
