Mumbai, May 21: In a latest development in IPL spot fixing scandal case, Bigg Boss winner Vindu Dara Singh, son of famous actor Dara Singh, has been arrested on Tuesday, May 21.
Mumbai police arrested him and would produce him before a lower court in the city on Wednesday. According to sources, Vindu was under Mumbai Police surveillance since the arrest of three bookies in the last few days.
49-year-old Vindu, who is also an well-known actor in Bollywood, won TV reality show Bigg Boss in 2010. With Vindu's arrest, nexus between Bollywood stars and bookies have been unearthed.
Three cricketers -- S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan along with many bookies were arrested in connection with spot fixing case.
With Vindu's arrest, total 19 people have come under police radar in connection with fixing scandal. Delhi police, which unveiled the row for the first time, reportedly would ask court to extend all arrested people's custody which ends on Tuesday.
Vindu Dara Singh was named by arrested bookie Ramesh Vyas. Vindu was questioned by the Mumbai Police on Monday night while he was formally arrested on Tuesday morning.
Vindu charged under Sections 465, 466 and 419 of the IPC. Section 465 pertains to forgery with punishment of fine or jail term of two years, or both. Section 466 is on crime of forgery of record of court or of public register and Section 419 is cheating by personation. He has been sent to police custody till May 24.
