One of the arrested bookies - Chandresh was learnt to have admitted that he had arranged girls for both Chandila and Sreesanth at least five to six times in the last one year. Ajit Chandila and S Sreesanth along with Ankeet Chavan were arrested over their alleged role in IPL scandal.
Police officials were quoted as saying, "They were roped in to lure players. The bookies would place them in a room near to that of the target player. The woman would then test the waters as the players entered or left their rooms, or in the lobby. If they were able to strike up a 'friendship', the operation began. Women were also planted at IPL parties after the matches."
The daily also reported that it was during the post-match parties that the bookies hobnobbed with the players. Continuing their statement on the issue, police official said, "If the player rose to the bait, the woman would try to seduce him into accepting the bookies' proposal, handed over in an envelope."
Most of the players would succumb, however only to retract later, added the report while quoting source. The shocking revelations surfaced during the time when Sreesanth reportedly told police that another bookie Jiju Janardhan had tried to make his MMS in a hotel room in Mumbai.
Now, police began their investigation to find out whether such "tapes" of the cricketers were used to blackmail and threaten them to pursue the fixing scandal.
