New Delhi, May 14: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the plea by Bollywood film producers seeking extension of time for Sanjay Dutt, the actor convicted in a case related to the Mumbai serial blasts on 1993, to surrender. The plea cited that the actor needed more time to finish shooting for his pending films.

According to sources in the film fraternity, Dutt's withdrawal from the incomplete films will lead to massive financial loss for the producers.

The apex court had turned down Dutt's review petition on May 10 and asked him to surrender by May 16.

Reports said Dutt's only options now were either to apply for the mercy petition before the Governor or the curative petition, besides of course, to surrender. Senior lawyer Ujwal Nikam, however, had said that the actor now had no other option but to go to jail. Dutt can consider applying for mercy after going to jail, he had said.
