NSUI leader shames Congress by dancing naked, suspended

Mumbai, May 7: The Congress on Monday suspended a top leader of its student wing National Students Union of India (NSUI) for dancing naked at a party function here earlier in the day. Suraj Singh Thakur, the president of the Mumbai unit head, had been re-elected as the NSUI chief last December. It is, however, not yet clear what instigated him to indulge in such vulgar act.

The incident caused more embarrassment to a party which is fighting its latest bout against corruption charges in Delhi where two of its key ministers have been accused of involving in corrupt activities. The opposition BJP has raised strong demand for the resignation of even the prime minister, besides the tao accused minister.

Thakur had come into prominence two years ago after leading a vociferous protest against the book of A G Perarivalan, the alleged killer of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He had also led a massive demonstration against senior BJP leader L K Advani in November that year.
