K'taka polls: Vote on May 5, even your milk is saying that!
Well, Nandini (Karnataka Milk Federation) is not only dispensing milk but also spreading message to vote. As part of efforts to boost poll percentage, many methods are being adopted and one of them is printing of message on milk packets to vote on May 5.
The message on the Nandini milk pack says 'Cast u r vote'. Like morning beverage is must for you, peoples participation is also must for a vibrant democracy.
While the overall voter turnout was 64.91 per cent in the 2008 elections, the average in the 28 segments of Bangalore was a low 47.3 per cent. The lowest in Bangalore was in Sarvajnanagar at 35.40 per cent.
The Election Commission and a number of NGOs have made vigorous efforts in the recent weeks seeking to enlighten voters on the need to exercise their frachise.
Hence, the Deputy Commissioners in districts have sent personal letter to all the voters to exercise their franchise and handed over to them along with polling slip at their homes by booth-level officers.
In addition, over 25 lakh school children have already got their parents to sign on pledge letters to vote in the poll without fail and without coming under the influence of inducements, he said.
Total electorate in Karnataka is 4,36,36,966.
