Other inmates injured in the scuffle were also hospitalized.
Jail authorities, however, confirmed that no Pakistani inmate was involved in the fighting and a judicial inquiry has been instituted in the case. It was said that the reason for the clash was not yet known and details will be clear only the inquiry report is submitted.
Fighting in the prison has become a serious concern for both India and Pakistan. A condemned Indian prisoner, Sarabjit Singh, was recently killed in a brutal assault by some men in a Pakistani jail while the retaliation to that incident was seen in a Jammu jail on Friday where a Pakistani inmate was thrashed in Jammu jail. He is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Chandigarh.
