Delhi: Harassed woman kills self outside Metro station
The police have arrested the woman's husband Deepak Sapra, mother-in-law Usha and father-in-law Yogesh.
"Her brother was calling continuously on her mobile phone. One of the officials informed him about her death," police said. The police added that before she left, Shilpi texted her husband saying that she was 'going away forever and that he should be happy to get rid of her'.
Police further said that 'Shilpi had an altercation with her husband and in-laws before she left home in the morning'. While Shilpi's in-laws claimed she was suffering from depression, her family alleged that she has been forced to commit suicide by her husband, police said.
"Deepak often sent her home and asked her to return with gifts. On every festival we used to send expensive gift, but he continued to torture my sister. I tried to persuade her to divorce him but she would say that she would handle it," Shilpi's brother, Sumit Bhandari was quoted as saying.
Shilpi, a school teacher married Deeak Sapra last year. Her family has alleged that she kept complaining of being harassed for dowry.
A case of dowry harassment and dowry death has been registered against Shilpi's husband and in-laws was ealier registered.
