Sushma quizzes Rajnath, raises issue of women reservation
Once again the issue of women reservation is brought to the light by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday (April 24).
In fact, Swaraj expressed her displeasure over her own party's policies to promote women politicians.
Swaraj questioned BJP president Rajnath Singh and his new team over non-inclusion of a woman member in the team of general secretaries.
"I have expressed my displeasure that you (Rajnath) have not included a woman among general secretaries. This is not good," Swaraj told Rajnath.
Although Swaraj was flashing her typical smile while confronting the issue with Singh, but the point brought out by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha is something that can't be ignored by all political parties.
Swaraj brought up the issue while addressing a function organised by the BJP's women's wing at party headquarters on Wednesday.
Addressing after Swaraj, the BJP president sought her cooperation in getting more women candidates for elections, reminding that she was a member of the central election committee that finalises candidates.
"I would like to tell Sushmaji that I will need her support to get 33 per cent women candidates in the central election committee," he said.
