New Delhi, April 25: Nalini Chidambaram, wife of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, has refuted charges that she had sought help from Saradha Group chairman-cum-managing director Sudipta Sen, accused of duping thousands of their life savings, to set up a television channel in northeastern India, sources said on Thursday.

Sources close to Nalini Chidambaram said she was engaged by one Manoranjana Sinh to appear in a case before the company law board. According to the sources, the Saradha Group sought to invest in her client's company but Nalini Chidambaram advised her client that it would not be wise to proceed under such arrangement.

Earlier in the day, Minister of State for Home R P N Singh said all these talks were wild allegations. He said it was not right to drag someone's name into the controversy just because he or she is acting as one's lawyer. He said the conclusion should be reached only after the investigation had taken place.

Sen and two of his associates were arrested at Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday where they had gone by their car and brought back to Kolkata on Wednesday in transit remand.
