Musharraf sent to judicial custody; locked in farmhouse jail
Musharraf, on the charge of treason and many other, has been produced before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday, April 20. Musharraf was surrounded by his bodyguards and other security personnel when he reached the court premise on Saturday.
He waved and saluted to his followers before entering the courtroom amid chaotic scenes with lawyers raising slogans against the him and scuffling with his supporters. No one was allowed to come close to him. Musharraf waved to his followers again as he left the court.
Musharraf was presented in the court of in-charge judge ATC Kausar Abbas Zaidi. The former president, who faces several charges, was arrested in connection to the judges' detention case on Friday.
He recorded his statement after consulting his legal representatives. Police officers and investigators met Musharraf on Friday while his counsel met him on Saturday morning.
Names of 14 witnesses have been included in the incomplete challan (charge-sheet) against the former dictator. The judicial magistrate had granted a two-day transit remand to Musharraf on Friday.
The former Pakistani dictator was whisked away by his security guards from a court here after the latter cancelled his bail and ordered an immediate arrest. Musharraf had returned to Pakistan in March 2013 from a four-year self-exile to contest the May 11 elections but all his nominations were rejected.
