Vijayakanth, who had appeared before court in connections with several other defamation cases filed by the Tamil Nadu CM, failed to before a court in the Tirulnelveli district in the state for three consecutive day on Wednesday, April 17. Hence, the court issued NBW against the DMDK supremo.
The lawyer representing Vijayakanth in the court had claimed that the politician could not turn up to the court for the scheduled hearing as he was busy in ongoing state assembly sessions. However, he did not reach to the assemby till noon on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the actor's lawyer was quoted as saying, "these cases are politically motivated and there is no truth in the defamatory charges they are alleging."
Vijayakanth has been facing the wrath of the state government led by Jayalalithaa since he broke the alliance with AIADMK. Earlier DMDK in an alliance with Jayalalithaa's party won 29 seats during the assembly elections in 2011. However, later he became an arch-rival and a bitter critic of the CM.
