Chandigarh, April 17: The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized heroin worth Rs 250 crore in the international market from the Khemkaran sector near Amritsar. While 18 kg of heroin worth Rs 90 crore was seized on Tuesday, another 32 kg of heroin was seized worth Rs 160 crore on Wednesday.

The latest drug haul comes after the massive one in Mohali recently in which heroin worth Rs 130 crore was seized. Olympic medal-winning boxer Vijender Singh was allegedly involved in the case. However, he was later given clean chit after he tested negative for consuming banned substances.

The BSF has so far recovered 91 kg of heroin from near the Indo-Pak border in Punjab this year.

Fake currency notes found

The BSF on Tuesday also found fake currency notes with face value of Rs 4.8 lakh from near the Indo-Pak border in Punjab's Ferozpur district. BSF sources said their personnel had noticed some suspicious movement along the fence in Khemkaran and on being pursued, the intruders ran towards the Pakistani side leaving behind the drugs and the fake currency notes.
