Kolkata, April 11: A day after Trinamol Congress' (TMC) alleged vandalism at famous Presidency University in Kolkata, students of the university on Thursday, April 11 staged a protests rally against the state chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

The students, who held a black protest, asked the CM to order a proper investigation into the vandalism case. TMC supporters have been accused of ransacking classrooms and laboratories in the college. It was alleged that TMC supporters had attacked college students while they were attending classes.

However, TMC leaders overruled all allegations against them calling the vandalism a conspiracy made by opposition party. Meanwhile, a Trinamool Councillor, Partha Basu, has been caught on camera among a group of people trying to enter the college at the time that it was attacked.

The polarised political circle in the state was heated up on Tuesday after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and some of her Cabinet colleagues were heckled by SFI supporters in New Delhi after they had gone to meet the Planning Commission authorities.

The SFI protesters protested against the CM after she had termed the death of a SFI leader in police custody on April 2 as a small and petty matter. State finance minister Amit Mitra and panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee were manhandled by the protesters.

A furious Banerjee warned of a backlash and by the evening, TMC supporters attacked several CPI(M) party offices and party leaders across the state.
