 Presidency College
Kolkata, April 10: A few students were injured after Trianmool Congress (TMC) and CPI(M) supporters clashed at Presidency College here on Wednesday. TMC supporters ransacked classrooms and laboratories in the college. It was alleged that TMC supporters had attacked college students while they were attending classes.

The polarised political circle in the state was heated up on Tuesday after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and some of her Cabinet colleagues were heckled by SFI supporters in New Delhi after they had gone to meet the Planning Commission authorities. The SFI protesters protested against the CM after she had termed the death of a SFI leader in police custody on April 2 as a small and petty matter.

State finance minister Amit Mitra and panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee were manhandled by the protesters. A furious Banerjee warned of a backlash and by the evening, TMC supporters attacked several CPI(M) party offices and party leaders across the state.

On Wednesday, the TMC organised protests against the attack on Banerjee at Jantar Mantar in the national capital and many other parts of the nation.
