Bangalore: Brace up for indefinite taxi strike from April 15
Private companies who avail of the services have been informed about the strike. Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owners Association (BTTOA) along with maxi cab associations will be taking part in the indefinite strike.
Around one lakh vehicles are likely to be off the roads from April 15. According to recent rules, drivers have to be eighth standard certified before a driving licence for passenger transport vehicles can be issued
Commuters worried
The indefinite strike has got some sections of he society worried. For senior citizen Jayanti K who avails of taxi services regularly, her daily routine will be affected. "I avail of taxi services on most days. Now even to go ahead with my routine will be a problem," she said, when she got to know about the strike.
Another senior citizen, Mani S is also worried since she too utilises cab service often. "Every other day I request for a cab to travel. I just hope it doesn't go on for long. Every other day I request for a cab to travel," she said.
