Urine remark: Maharastra activists name urinal after Ajit Pawar
Jalna (Maharashtra), April 9: Some local activists have named a urinal here after Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in retribution for his recent remark on 'urinating in dam'. A poster with a photograph of Pawar was also pasted there.
The act took place three days after the deputy chief minister, while speaking in reference to a farmer who started hunger-strike demanding release of water in dams, said the only way of releasing water in dams was by urinating in them. The state has been been witnessing serious drought this year.
The remarks led to a huge protest across the political spectrum. Later, Pawar and even his uncle and NCP chief and Union minister Sharad Pawar apologised for the remark but failed to calm down the angry voices. Ajit Pawar even said that the remark was the biggest mistake he had ever committed.
Even the state assembly had to be adjourned for sometime as the opposition tried to pass a censure motion against the deputy chief minister. The Speaker, however, rejected the motion on Tuesday.
The deputy chief minister had even followed up this comment with another remark to poke fun at power failure in the state. he said:"I have noticed that more children are being born since the lights go off at night. There is no other work left then."
