The parents of the class 4 students have alleged that 'hot tea was poured on him by a sweeper at the instruction of a teacher to punish him for absenteeism'. They further said that when the boy was rushed to hospital, the right side of his face was heavily scarred along with other parts of the body.
The parents have alleged that the act was 'deliberate' said their child was in severe pain when he was rushed to a government hospital.
A police complaint has been lodged and school authorities have been pulled up following the incident. Parents of the student staged a protest outside the school demanding suspension of the sweeper and teacher.
In February two teachers at a madrassa allegedly burnt the feet of a 11-year-old student by pressing hot iron after the child tried to run away from Madrassa Nasurat-ul-uloom in Ahdarkotein, Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir.
Rajouri district has witnessed two cases of brutality by teachers in the recent past. On Dec 6, 2012, the right arm of a nine-year-old girl was fractured after she was allegedly caned by a teacher for coming late to school. On Aug 18, 2012, a Class IX suffered kidney failure after he was allegedly thrashed by a teacher.
