Delhi:Flight carrying Rajnath, Sushma, Jaitley escapes crash

New Delhi, April 8: A private jet carrying top BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley made an emergency landing in New Delhi airport on Monday, April 8.

According to sources, the flight faced technical snag soon after take off and was forced to make the emergency landing. The private jet, which is owned by Eon, is a nine-seater challenger aircraft.

The BJP leaders were scheduled to attend a party rally in Bangalore for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections which would be held in May 2013.

BJP sources informed that the top leaders of the party are likely to address the crucial party rally in Bangalore through video conference. Earlier Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and veteran BJP leader LK Advani informed that they would not attend the rally.

Election in the state will be held on May 5 to elect its 224-member Assembly. Counting of votes will be held on May 8. While 36 constituencies are reserved for SCs, 15 are reserved for STs in the state. There are a total of 4.18 crore voters in Karnataka.
