Drugs: Bollywood actor, crorepati hotel owner arrested in US

New York, April 5: Multi-millionaire Indo-American hotel owner Vikram Chatwal has been arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office in an airport in US. He has been accused of carrying illegal drugs while travelling in the country.

Chatwal, who acted in few Bollywood movies such as Honeymoon Travels and many others, later was given bail. He is the owner of Dream Hotel in New York. According to sources, Chatwal has been released on a bond of about USD 56,000 (around Rs. 31 lakh).

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport found arsenal of drugs", including cocaine, weed, heroin and various prescription pills from his bags.

Press office of the Sant Chatwal-led Hampshire Hotels and Resorts refused to make any comment on Chatwal's arrest. The office did not even disclose information regarding Chatwal's whereabouts.

TMZ website, a celebrity-oriented site, reported that 41-year-old Chatwal was booked on one count of trafficking (six grams of heroin) and seven counts of possession for cocaine, heroin, marijuana and various other drugs.

Officer Carmen Hunsinger, in his police report, said, "He provided a statement to narcotics detectives admitting possessing and purchasing the controlled substances illegally."
