Rahul Gandhi at CII meet: India is bursting with ideas

New Delhi, April 4: Rahul Gandhi, for the first time in his career as an active politician, addressed giants of Indian Inc at at the annual general meeting of industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Thursday, April 4.

The CII meet was attended by top business leaders and industrialists such as Bharti Airtel chief Sunil Bharti Mittal, Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej and Wipro Chairman Azim Premji.

Speaking at the crucial meet, Rahul said, "I am a pilot, trained in US, came back to India, wanted to convert my degree here. 1 question was tell how u will drop mail from a plane."

"Our problem is the lack of training and skills. Why are our students forced to study obsolete things?" asked the Congress Vice-President.

Urging the tycoons for creating jobs and infrastructure in the country, Rahul said, "Govt cannot build this infrastructure alone. We need your help. It is critical that the business environment for the creation of this infrastructure is conducive."

"Economic vision is more than just money, embracing the excluded is necessary for wealth of creation," said Rahul while asserting that the country can not progress without poor and women.

Speaking about his vision, Gandhi claimed that India's economic vision must be more than money, it must be about compassion and embracing the excluded and building institutional structures.

"How can you talk of Centre-State relationship when only MPs and MLAs are defining the Vidhan Sabhas?" questions Rahul.

"We need to build a new architecture. Currently, the grassroots is totally disconnected from the political system. One person can't solve problems of a billion people, give power to billion people, all work will be done," the Congress Vice-President added.
