Narendra Modi empowered ahead of poll, gets promotion in BJP

Narendra Modi
New Delhi, March 31: Putting an end to his wait for last six years, Narendra Modi finally on Sunday, March 31 has been inducted in the BJP Parliamentary Board.

The much anticipated promotion of the Gujarat Chief Minister empowered him ahead of crucial Lok Sabha elections which is expected to be held in 2014.

It is believed that Modi has taken a step forward to become the PM nominee of the party during the general election in which BJP is expecting to return to power in the Centre.

Varun Gandhi, Amit Shah and Rajiv Pratap Rudy have been appointed as general secretaries of the party. Uma Bharti and Smriti Irani have been elevated as vice-president.

BJP Parliamentary Board is the highest decision making body of the party. The Gujarat CM earlier was made a part of the board during Rajnath Singh's first term as BJP President. However, later Modi was removed from the post.

Meanwhile, many BJP leaders and ministers were irked by the decision of inclusion of Amit Shah in the board. The former Gujarat Home Minister, who is known to be a close aide of Modi, has been accused in a fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
