Udupi: JD(S) protests sleaze CD issue, seek probe

Udupi, March 30: JD(S) leaders on Friday protested against the sensational sleaze CD issue and demanded a probe into the case and involvement of local BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat in the incident.

The protesters accused Bhat of feigning ignorance. District JD(S) president Deviprasad Shetty said that the matter should be probed for it is related to public interest.

Sources in the JD(S) said that Bhat was expected to behave more responsibly for he holds a respectful political position. They said Bhat's action tainted the value-based politics in the region and embarrassed all politicians.

The JD(S) said Bhat always found himself amid controversy. It said he was linked with wife Padmapriya's death, Malpe rave party and illegal occupation of 110 acres of KIADB-denoted land in Nandikur village. The party sought to know about the truth behind the CD scandal, when it was done, where it happened, who was responsible and also the woman involved in it.

The protest was joined by the party's district vice-president and other leaders. They later submitted a petition to the district deputy superintendent of police on the matter.
