Seaking about their probe into the murder case of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's relative, police officials were quoted as saying, "We are yet to arrest anybody in the case. Investigations are on. Only after catching the shooters, we can talk about the motive. But one thing is sure, it has something to do with money or property."
Police also suspect that Bhardwaj's close famly member(s) may involve in the case. Wife and two sons of the slain BSP leader have already been grilled by the investigating team.
His sons, Hitesh and Nitesh have been questioned since a lot of Bharadwaj's property is registered in his own name. Sources said that Bharadwaj had not given his family a share in the money.
"He did not keep the family in the loop about his property deals and had asked his wife and sons to return the ownership of the Dwarka-based school, Shiksha Bharati School, which they were running," said a source.
Another suspect is a lady acquaintance of Bharadwaj who they feel may be connected to the murder. They suspect that someone very close to him, who is aware of his schedule is involved in the murder.
The police conducted raids at several places in connection with the murder case. Many people have been detained. The cops believe that the detained persons could be contract killers.
A Skoda car which was used has been recovered. The assailants used the car to travel to Bharadwaj's farmhouse. CCTV footage was also released by the police which shows how two assailants, who entered into the farmhouse in Rajokri at 8:55 am on the pretext of booking the place for a marriage later shot him down.
Bharadwaj was the richest candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls with declared assets of over Rs 600 crore. His younger son is married to Shahrukh Khan's sister-in-law.
