Delhi Metro Station firing: Murderer commits suicide
The woman was shot at by her husband Pawan while she was riding the escalator close to the entrance of a metro station near the Karkardooma court in east Delhi. The lady was along with her father who is in a critical state and has been admitted to hospital.
Pawan's body was found hanging from a tree near a railway station in Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. No suicide note has been left behind. A police team is rushing to Muradnagar to investigate the matter.
The deceased was identified as Deepti. The accused, Pawan, fled the scene after leaving behind the 12-bore double-barrel-gun with which the crime was committed, on the spot. Pawan fled before anyone, including the security personnel, could move an inch.
Five empty cartridges were found from the spot of the crime.
According to the police, the reason behind the shooting is a marital dispute. After a court hearing on a property dispute between the couple, Pawan followed Deepti and shot at her. They were married for 9 years and Deepti had filed a 'case of assault against the accused at the women's cell'.
Police insist that there has been no security breach at the station since Pawan shot at from outside.
