Gang-Rape Accused
New Delhi, March 25: Just as the fast track court was to begin the proceedings on Monday in connection with the December 16 Delhi gang- rape case, Mukesh Singh, who has been accused in the case, required to be hospitalised. He complained of chest pain on the way from Tihar Jail to Saket Court Complex.

Speculations include whether Mukesh, brother of Ram Singh, the main accused in the gang-rape case feigned the illness. Mukesh's counsel M L Sharma told the court that "something fishy is going on and I am worried about his hospitalisation due to chest pain". He further told the court that he should be allowed to meet his client in the hospital "right now" as he does not trust the police or the doctors.

Sharma also said, as Mukesh's brother Ram Singh died in jail, so "I don't trust that Mukesh will be provided better medical facilities". He also sought the court's direction to appoint a doctor to examine Mukesh, which was turned down by the judge who said "let us wait for sometime".

The court which was supposed to begin the proceedings at 2 pm waited until 3pm for the hospital's report. He has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

3 other accused- Akshay Singh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma were brought to the court.

On Decemeber 16, 2012, a group of six men brutally gang-raped and assaulted the 23-year-old women inside a moving bus. Later the victim died in a Singapore hospital on Decemnber 29. Ram Singh was the driver of the bus, where the victim and her friend were seriously injured and assaulted, before they were thrown out of the moving bus to die on the roads of national capital.

On March 11, Ram Singh was found hanging in Tihar Jail, although his family suspected foul play.
