Terror Strike in Delhi during Holi? Police nabs 'terrorists'

New Delhi, March 22: Media reports say Delhi police has averted a major terror strike in the national capital during Holi celebrations by arresting suspected Hizbul Mujahideen operatives on Thursday, March 21.

Two days back, the special cell of Delhi Police nabbed a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen operative from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Police revealed his name as Liyakat Shah.

Based on the information provided by the Hizbul operative, police on Thursday night raided Hazi Arafat guest house located in Jama Masjid area of central Delhi. From the guest house police nabbed two suspected terrorists. Police sources say they are from Kashmir.

During their raid in the guest house, police seized large numbers of arms and ammunition from the terrorists. Police also found the terrorists were in possession of AK-47 rifles. Police sources say the room where the terrorists were staying has been sealed for further investigations.

Police told media persons that the terrorists had visited various parts of the national capital and picked up few areas to carry out strikes on Holi. India will celebrate Holi on March 27 (Wednesday).

Police sources say they are investigating the case to get into the core of the matter. Few media reports also suggest that terrorists wanted to strike the fourth and final Test between India and Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi, which started on Friday, March 22. However, police did not confirm the information.
