After Sachin Tendulkar,now Rekha granted leave in Parliament

New Delhi, March 22: After cricket icon of India, Sachin Tendulkar, veteran Bollywood actress Rekha too has been granted leave in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, March 22.

Both Sachin and Rekha missed the first session of Parliament proceedings from February 21 to March 22. Informing about Rekha, EMS Natchiappan, who was in the Chair, stated that the actress had sought leave for her absence during that period.

Earlier Sachin too had sough permission for leave citing his commitment to India-Australia test series.Both Sachin and Rekha, since their nomination to the Rajya Sabha, have not attended the House regularly.

The duo have not attended the Parliament session for a single day. Tendulkar and Rekha were nominated as Rajya Sabha members on Apr 26.

The 39-year-old cricketer had taken oath on Jun 4 in Chairman Hamid Ansari's chamber when Parliament was not in session.

Sachin and Rekha earlier had become a victim of joke when Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien on March 15 had sought permission from the House to grant the cricketer leave. Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agrawal said, "both of them hardly come to the House. Why not give both of them permanent leave."

Bollywood veteran actress Rekha too faced the criticism of the MPs. The actress also became another victim of Naresh Agrawal's joke which evoked peals of laughter in the House.
