CBI raid timing is full of conspiracy and motives
Despite whatever explanations Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gives, the timing of the raid gives away the motives. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called it ‘most unfortunate'. "Government has role in the CBI raid, will find out who was behind it," he told reporters. He also said that the timing of the raid was not right.
Stalin may have been the victim, the message of the raid was intended for many. This morning Samajwadi Party had scheduled its parliamentary party meeting to decide its response to Beni Prasad Verma's remark against its supreme Mulayam Singh Yadav. Till yesterday, the SP showed unrelenting anger and was demanding Verma's head.
But by mid-afternoon, tough talking Mulayam had become softer than ice cream and melted in the heat of the CBI raid.
The CBi may have done its routine duty but it had an extraordinary effect. . The CBI team said that the searches were in accordance with procedure and not intended to target any particular individual.
Earlier, Finance Minister P Chidambaram had disapproved of the CBI raid on Stalin and said that it will send a wrong signal. Upset with the CBI raids on DMK leader MK Stalin, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had questioned the minister concerned V Narayanasamy.
This means all the prinicpal characters of the episode have acted according to the script and the climax was provided by veteran script director M Karunanidhi and unpredictable Mulayam.
Like a father figure in Tamil movie, DMK chief Karunanidhi said that the CBI raids on Stalin ‘may or may not be political vendetta.'
"If the Central Minister says they were not aware of the CBI raids on MK Stalin, we have reasons to believe them," Karunanidhi said.
On the other hand, Mulayam Singh on Thursday indicated that he was not "angry" over the issue of Union Steel Minister Verma's controversial remarks against him. He also indicated at the SP's parliamentary party that there was no threat to the UPA government from the SP.
The CBI is a very potent weapon and no political leader can afford to displease the ruling dispensation and invite the wrath of raids and cases.
