Bus falls into river in Maharashtra, 37 killed
Mumbai, March 19: At least 37 people were killed after a bus on its way from Goa to Mumbai fell into a river near Khed Junction in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra early on Tuesday morning. Seventeen others were injured out of whom the condition of five were said to be critical. The injured were being treated at Khed civil hospital.
Some
foreigners
were
also
travelling
in
the
fateful
bus.
One
Russian
national
had
been
rescued
later.
Initial reports said the driver of the vehicle lost control on the Jagbudi bridge and the bus fell into the Jagbudi River. Police were probing whether the driver of the bus was drunk. He was sent for a medical test.
Official sources said the rescue operation was over and the traffic had been cleared on the route.
