Slapgate: Jaya fumes at query on SP; warns to slap reporter

Jaya Prada
Lucknow, March 13: What triggered anger in yesteryear Bollywood actress Jaya Prada, who is known for her sublime beauty? The actor-turned politician is said to have lost her cool after a journalist asked her about the kind of equation she shares with Samajwadi Party (SP), her former political party.

"Ek lafa doongi abhi (I will give you a slap)," a visibly angry Jaya told the reporter, when asked about her return to the SP.

"Tumko buddhi hai ya nahin...galat baat mat karo...mujhe party se nikal diya hai (Do you have any sense?...Don't talk rubbish..I have been expelled from the party), " Jaya screamed at the top of her voice.

Jaya was earlier expelled from SP, the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh.

Jaya is currently the Lok Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur constituency.

After her expulsion from SP, Jaya along with her political mentor and former party general secretary of SP Amar Singh floated Rashtriya Lok Manch.

It is a well known fact that Jaya shares uncomfortable equation with SP. She, however, earlier termed SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as her father and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav as brother.

Earlier, she met Praveen Azad, wife of slain DSP Zia-ul- Haq, who was shot dead on March 2, and consoled her.

Meanwhile, CBI team probing the DSP murder case called Azad on her mobile and inquired something from her and also directed her not to share it with media.

Jaya's warning to the journalist comes close on the heels of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who too had threatened journalists to slap them, if they don't stop pestering her all the time.
