Autopsy report: Mystery over Ram Singh's suicide remains
The post mortem is not clear on whether the main accused in the horrific gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student in December last year committed suicide.
According to the autopsy report, Ram Singh died between 4.30 am and 4.45 am on Monday, March 11.
Tihar Jail authorities on Monday said the 35-year-old rape accused committed suicide inside his cell on early Monday morning. But, the 35-year-old rape accused's family members and lawyers are openly alleging murder.
"There was no reason for him to commit suicide. There is some foul play," Singh's attorney V.K. Anand said. "Ram Singh did not kill himself. He was murdered," Singh's father, Mangi Lai, told.
There were allegations that Ram Singh died due to strangulation as his body had several injury marks. But, autopsy report say he died due to hanging.
Reports said Ram Singh's body had no antemortem injuries (injuries a body has received before death. They may be a contributing factor in the death or even its cause. Alternatively, they may occur many years ago).
Ram Singh, along with five other men brutally gang-raped and assaulted a 23-year-old paramedical student before throwing her out of a moving bus in the national capital on December 16, 2012. Later the victim died at a Singapore hospital on December 29, 2012.
