Lucknow, March 11: Keeping his pre-poll promises, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav gifted free laptops to the students of the state. Nearly 15 lakh Hewlett-Packard laptops, worth Rs 19,000 each will be given to first-year college students.
While distributing the freebies, Akhilesh asserted, "If this is what we can achieve in one year, imagine what we can accomplish over the next four years." The young 39-year-old CM's move seem to have impressed the students who said that they would support Samajwadi Party in the next election.
However, Akhilesh's decision to distributing free laptops surfaced just after the massive bolt faced by his party in recent past. Raja Bhaiya, who is known to be a close associate of the CM, has been accused of killing one DSPZia-ul-Haq.
Despite Raja Bhaiya's resignation from Akhilesh's cabinet, he has been roaming free. CBI started investigation the murder case but Raja Bhaiya has not been arrested yet.
