Mohali, March 9: Olympic medal winning boxer Vijender Singh has strongly refuted allegation of having any links with an alleged drug smuggler who was arrested last weekend by Punjab police.

But, media reports say, boxer Vijender and his friend Ram Singh met alleged drug smuggler Anup Singh Kahlon several times. In fact, on Friday Vijender's wife's car had been recovered from outside Anup Singh's house.

Moreover, National level boxer Ram Singh admitted to police during questioning that he and Vijender met the arrested drug dealer many times. Ram Singh also confessed that they had bought heroin from Kahlon. But, Ram Singh told police that he and Vijender are not habitual users.

The arrest of NRI driver based in Canada Anup Singh Kahlon led to the recovery of 26 kg of drugs. Police found heroin from his home in Zirakpur near Chandigarh.

Police officials told media the consignment was worth Rs. 130 crore. The police suspects Kahlon to be part of an international drug racket.

However, the Olympic bronze medalist Vijender is yet to be summoned by police for questioning in the case.

"I meet so many people, I met this guy also through somebody...but I don't know him personally. I was in Mumbai. May be my friend took my car and parked it at Anup Singh's house. He may be using my name to find an escape route," Vijender Singh had told TV channels.
