EPL: Manchester United vs Norwich City Preview

Manchester, Mar 2: Manchester United will be looking forward to their Champions League tie against Real Madrid on Tuesday which may force Sir Alex Ferguson in making several changes in the starting XI as his side host Norwich at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs extended his stay at Old Trafford which would take him to 23 seasons with United. On March 2nd, 1991 Giggs made his debut as a substitute against Everton and 22 years later on the very same day the Welshman will make his 1000th appearance in senior football.

Meanwhile, Norwich can eye another upset as United shuffle their squad. When these two sides met back in November, the Red Devils fell to a 1-0 defeat at Carrow Road. But United have been unbeaten at home in 17 games. The last time Norwich visited Old Trafford they were beaten 2-0.

This could be a tricky test for Ferguson given the importance and difficult test facing Real just three days after. Robin van Persie could be rested following his injured hip while Wayne Rooney may play a cameo role to be fresh for Tuesday's clash.

Norwich last registered a win at Old Trafford back 1989 and their last five visits have ended winless, losing four and drawing once.

Team News

United have confirmed that Robin van Perse is available for selection after recovering from a hip injury, but is likely to be rested for Tuesday's clash. Phil Jones will have a late fitness test while Paul Scholes is still out with knee injury.

Norwich midfielder Alex Tettey will miss the clash due to a knee problem while Kie Kamara may get his first start after an impressive display scoring off the bench against Everton. Andrew Surman and goalkeeper John Ruddy are sidelined.

Trivia:

*Manchester United have not lost a Premier League game since losing away at Norwich in November.

*Norwich's win against Everton ended their nine-match winless run.

Kei Kamara became the first player from Sierra Leone to score a goal in the Premier League.

Norwich City (4-4-2): Bunn-R Martin, Bassong, Turner, Garrido-Snodgrass, Johnson, Howson, Hoolahan-Holt, Becchio.
