BSY family trust collects Rs 44 crore donations in 5 years

BS Yeddyurappa
Bellary (Karnataka), March 1: The family run trust of former scam tainted chief minister BS Yeddyurappa- Prerana Educational and Social Trust received Rs 44 crore as donations in the span of 5 years. The trust has declared before the CBI that an amount of Rs 44.06 crore as funds was received between September 2006 and March 2011.

The main allegation against the former chief minister was that he used his public office to grant favours to mining companies who later made donations to his family-run trust. Reports also suggest that after Yeddyurappa rose to the top, the donations to the trust received a great thrust.

Yeddyurppa was deputy chief minister in February 2006 while he became chief minister in 2008.

According to a report in the New Indian Express, the list of donors include South West Mining Limited, a subsidiary of Jindal Steels, which is also under the CBI scanner for donating Rs 10 crore to the Prerana Trust, MSPL Limited based in Hospet, Bellary, has donated Rs 3 crore to the same trust, Ramghad Minerals and Mining Private Ltd (RMMPL), Adarsh Developers, Trishul Developers Private Limited, Raghu Construction Company, Hyderabad based Navayug Engineering Company, Adarsh Prime and the Yeddyurappa family owned Davalagiri Properties have also made substantial donations.
