PDP leaders meet Afzal Guru's family in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 21: People's Democratic Party (PDP) leaders on Wednesday met the family of 2001 Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru at Doabgah Sopore in north Kashmir.

"A PDP delegation visited the family of Guru at Doabgah Sopore and offered prayers for the departed soul," a party spokesman said.

It was led by Nazir Ahmad Yatoo, party's youth general secretary, he said in a statement here.

The delegation expressed party's solidarity with the family, the spokesman said.

On Wednesday, Independent legislator Abdul Rashid visited the Guru's residence and interacted with the family.

Many separatist leaders have also visited the family of Guru who was executed in Tihar Jail in Delhi earlier this month. His family was not asked to meet him before the execution and the speed post that was dispatched on the eve of the execution informing about the same reached the family two days after the execution.

Curfew had also been imposed in the Valley after the execution to maintain law and order situation.
