Kohima, Feb 13: It seems there is a sudden rush among politicians of national stature to visit Nagaland. The reasons are obvious. Nagaland Assembly Elections 2013 is slated on Feb 23. In a last attempt to win voters trust, leaders of both Congress and BJP are lining up in the state.

After Congress President Sonia Gandhi, it is time for her son and newly appointed vice-president of Congress Rahul Gandhi to visit the hill state.

After Rahul, Defence Minister AK Anthony will visit the state.

Rahul would arrive on February 14 and address two election rallies in Mon and Tuensang districts, NPCC General Secretary Medokul Sophie said.

Anthony will arrive on February 16 to address an election rally at Pftsero in Phek district, he said.
UPA chairperson was in Nagaland on Feb 7.

She said the Congress wanted to settle the Naga insurgency issue soon and is committed in bringing an honourable and acceptable solution to all concerned parties.

Addressing an election rally in Dimapur, she said that it was the UPA government that took the decision to invite NSCN leaders for the political dialogue.

"It is not the BJP but the Congress which has taken the decision," she said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recently distributed tickets to 11 candidates, including a woman candidate, in the 60-seat Nagaland State Legislative Assembly. In order to woo voters, BJP top national leaders are visiting Nagaland in coming days. Some of the star campaigners of BJP to visit Nagaland are Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, and Varun Gandhi.
