EPL Transfers: All completed deals in January 2013

London, Feb 2: Premier League clubs spent nearly £120million during the January transfer window, double the amount spent last year. Liverpool, Newcastle and QPR have spent more than half the total amount while Manchester City and West Brom Albion did not buy players in the transfer window. Here is a look at all the completed transfer deals during January.

  • Arsenal fans were expecting some activity in the January transfer window. The Gunners had been linked with Barcelona and Spain striker David Villa but instead Arsene Wenger purchased a left-back Nacho Monreal from Malaga for £8.5million. The Spanish international is a replacement for injury prone Kieran Gibbs and will play ahead of Brazilian Andre Santos.
  • Demba Ba was the only player Chelsea included in their squad for £7.5million. Ba, 27, is a direct replacement for Fernando Torres, who is currently struggling in front of goal. The former Newcastle striker scored on his debut against Southampton. Chelsea also signed Brazilian right-back Wallace from Fluminese for £5million but he arrives in the summer.
  • Everton managed to sign right-back John Stones for £3million from Barnsley. The 17-year old is highly rated by all Premier League clubs.
  • Fulham manager Martin Jol has brought in a few reinforcements in midfield with Emmanuel Frimpong on loan from Arsenal, Urby Emmanuelson from AC Milan, right-back Stanislav Manolev on loan from PSV Eindhoven.
  • Liverpool spent the most this trasnfer window spening £22.5million with two attacking players Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea and Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan.
  • Manchester United made two signings in Wilfried Zaha for £10million (rising to £15m) and young goalkeeper Dean Santangelo. United were linked with goalkeepers Asmir Begovic, Victor Valdes and Pepe Reina.
  • Newcastle United signed Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from Montpellier, Yoan Gouffran from Bordeaux, Massadio Haidara from Nancy, Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse and Kevin Mbabu from Servette. The Magpies spent nearly £15million in order to survive in the Premier League.
  • Norwich City signed Argentine striker Luciano Becchio in a swap deal for Steve Morison from Leeds United. The 29-year old has scored 19 goals in the Championship this season.
  • QPR manager Harry Redknapp planned to overhaul his squad during the January window. Chris Samba was signed for a club-record fee of £12.5million and will reportedly earn £100,000-a-week. Apart from Samba, Redknapp signed Jermaine Jenas and Andros Towsend from former club Tottenham.
  • Stoke City signed England's talented goalkeeper Jack Butland for a bargain price £4million from Birmingham City. Butland was sent back on loan to Birmingham for the rest of the season. The Potters also signed winger Brek Shea from FC Dallas but is currently recovering from a foot injury.
  • Sunderland signed striker Danny Graham for £5.5million from Swansea City. The Black Cats fans booed Graham, who is Newcastle fan, during their match against Swansea which ended a scoreless draw.
  • Tottenham sealed the signature of Germany star Lewis Holtby for £1.5million from Schalke. Holtby was supposed to join Spurs at the end of the season but a season-ending injury to Sandro forced Tottenham to move in for Holtby.
