Mumbai, Feb 1: 21-year-old Shaheen Dhada and her friend Rinu Srinivasan must be relieved now as a session court in Palghar, Maharashtra dropped cases against them.

Following the police closure report, the court on Thursday, Dec 31 closed the cases against two girls who were arrested over a Facebook post post Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray's demise.

A 'C' summary report was filed by the Boisar police in Dec 2012 to close the criminal case against the two girls on the grounds that it was 'neither true nor false'.

However, the complainant - Shiv Sena member Bhushan Sankhe's lawyer stated that they will move Palghar Session Court challenging the order. Sankhe is expected to file a criminal revision appeal.

Shaheen had posted a comment on Facebook questioning Mumbai's shutdown on Bal Thackeray's funeral and her friend Rinu had liked it. The duo were arrested by cops and later released on bail.

Shaheen and Rinu's arrest sparked a row in the country and Maharashtra government had faced immense criticism. Following the uproar, two police officers were suspended in connection with the incident while the magistrate at Palghar, who ordered bail for the girls, was transferred.
